Master failover mechanism
- Local bridge mode Supports auto-recovery. When the Master is down, the system automatically elects a new Master to manage the Unleashed network with the same configuration as per the AP ability. The administrator can designate an AP to work as Master by using the Preferred Master option. If Primary Preferred Master is enabled, the designated AP will have a high priority to work as the Master AP and the second priority goes to the AP designated as the secondary preferred Master. If both preferred Master APs are down, the system automatically elects another member AP as the new Master AP.
- Dedicated mode When a Dedicated Master AP is down, there is no option of electing a new Master while the member AP continues to work in the same way. If you require redundancy ability for the Dedicated mode, you can configure Smart Redundancy function manually.
Twilio SMS changes
Effective November 28, 2022, Twilio will shut down the /sms/messages resource endpoint. Twilio will no longer update and maintain the /sms/messages endpoint; you’ll need to migrate to the new /messages endpoint so your application continues to function as intended.
Unleashed 200.13 supports the new API of Twilio SMS. Starting from November 28, 2022, earlier versions of Unleashed prior to 200.13 must upgrade to 200.13 to continue to use the Twilio SMS function.

Caveats, Limitations and Known Issues
If a Ruckus AP running standalone AP firmware is upgraded to Unleashed 200.6, the "Zero Touch Mesh" feature will not work until another factory reset is performed after upgrade. [UN-2084]
If a guest pass printout customization was created running Unleashed 200.3 or earlier, the printouts may display incorrect or missing information after upgrading to 200.6. [UN-2383]
Workaround: Edit and save the existing template after upgrading to 200.6, or create a new one after upgrading and replace the old one.
The Unleashed Upgrade page allows the user to downgrade a T310 or E510 AP to an unsupported release via local upgrade. As these APs are new in 200.6, they should not be downgradeable to a previous release. Admins should be careful not to accidentally downgrade an AP to an Unleashed build that does not support that AP model. If this does happen, the AP will reboot 5-7 times and then revert to the previous image. [UN-1688]
The built-in credentials for social media WLANs (other than Facebook) only work when the Master uses the default certificate. If an admin imports a new SSL certificate for the Unleashed Master, he/she will need use his/her own client ID for social media WLAN login. [UN-2374]
All C110 APs under the same CMTS are isolated by default. [UN-1851]
Google Pixel and Nexus 6P are not correctly identified by the client fingerprinting feature. [UN-2203]
Libratone wireless speaker clients fail to properly renew IP addresses from DHCP. [UN-2134]
Uploading a logo from the mobile app may fail without an error message if the upload is too large. [UN-2251]
Some clients (including Huawei Honor 8) running certain versions of Chrome browser (including Chrome version 65.0.3325.109) may fail to be redirected to the AAA server login page after connecting to a web auth WLAN due to a compatibility issue with Chrome and HTTPS redirect. [UN-2132, UN-2475]
Workaround: By default, web auth portal redirection is in forced HTTPS mode. To disable forced HTTPS redirection for web auth WLANs, enter the Master AP CLI and enter the following commands:
ruckus-cliruckus# config You have all rights in this mode. ruckus(config)# no web-portal-force-https-redirection The command was executed successfully. ruckus(config)# ruckus(config)# ruckus(config)# show portal-auth-generation Force DNS server: Disabled Force Web Portal HTTPS Redirection: Disabled ruckus(config)#
HTTPS redirect for web auth WLANs may fail in Firefox browser (v.59.0.2) due to an SSL certificate error. [UN-2486]
Workarounds:
- Click the "Open network login page" button on right top corner of this error page to open the web portal login page in a new tab.
- Use another browser, such as Chrome v65, Safari 10.1.2, or IE 11.
Attempting to visit certain websites (e.g., www.google.com) while connected to a "Configure.Me" SSID from an AP in factory default state may fail to launch the Unleashed Setup Wizard. This is due to certain websites' use of HSTS (Hypertext Strict Transport Security), which will cause the browser to refuse to redirect to the Unleashed Setup Wizard page properly without an authenticated third party certificate. [UN-2483]
Workaround: Try another website that doesn't use HSTS (www.ruckuswireless.com, for example). The browser will redirect to the Setup Wizard.
Zero-IT profile file fails to download via iOS 11.3 CNA. [UN-2480]
Workaround: Enable Bypass Apple CNA feature.
If an Unleashed Master AP is configured with a static IP address, it will retain the static IP address after rebooting and another member AP takes over as Master, rather than switching to DHCP to get a new dynamic IP address. [UN-2159]
If a Google Social Media WLAN was created prior to upgrading to 200.6 using non-default credentials, it may fail to work after upgrading to 200.6 due to a change in the Google redirection URI. [UN-2501]
Workarounds:
- Use the default built-in Google account.
- Change the user's Google account URI settings to add the URI http://unleashed.ruckuswireless.com/user/auth.jsp to match with the system.

200.5 GA Refresh 2
Build 200.5.10.0.283 released
Resolved Issues
Resolved an issue related to the WPA KRACK vulnerability. For information on security incidents and responses, see https://www.ruckuswireless.com/security. [AP-6463]
This release fixes multiple vulnerabilities (also known as KRACK vulnerabilities) discovered in the four-way handshake stage of the WPA protocol. The Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) IDs that this release addresses include:
- CVE-2017-13077
- CVE-2017-13078
- CVE-2017-13079
- CVE-2017-13080
- CVE-2017-13081
- CVE-2017-13082
Client devices that have not yet been patched are vulnerable to KRACK attacks. To help protect unpatched client devices from KRACK attacks, Ruckus strongly recommends running the CLI commands below:
ruckus-cliruckus# config ruckus(config)# system ruckus(config-sys)# eapol-no-retry
Use the following command to disable:
ruckus-cliruckus(config-sys)# no eapol-no-retry
Enabling the eapol-no-retry feature (disabled by default) prevents the AP from retrying packets in the key exchange process that have been found to be vulnerable to KRACK attacks. Note that enabling this feature may introduce client connectivity delay in high client density environments.
For more information about KRACK vulnerabilities, visit the Ruckus Support Resource Center at https://support.ruckuswireless.com/krack-ruckus-wireless-support-resource-center.
New CLI commands for configuring WLAN QoS settings on the Master AP are now supported. [UN-1593]
Caveats, Limitations and Known Issues
AP configuration max clients setting cannot be configured from 52 to 99 for some APs. [UN-1620]
If two Unleashed networks are connected to the same switch with different PVIDs and the switch ports are configured as trunk ports, they may be able to communicate with each other (depending on AP model), resulting in unexpected network topologies. [UN-1610]
Workaround: Configure switch ports as access ports with different PVID settings so that the two Unleashed APs cannot communicate with one another.

Preferred Master
The "Preferred Master" setting allows customers to select a specific AP to be the Master AP in an Unleashed network, so that if the current Master AP is disconnected, it will have the highest priority to resume the role of Master AP again once it rejoins the Unleashed network. By default, there is no preference as to which AP should become the Master AP; the first (highest capability) AP that is deployed automatically becomes the Master AP.
Using the Preferred Master setting, users can configure one AP to have priority. Any (non-mesh) AP can become the Master if the preferred Master is offline, but when the Preferred Master comes back online, it will assume the Master role again.
NOTE
A Mesh AP cannot be configured as the Preferred Master.Ruckus Unleashed Multi-site Manager
The Unleashed Multi-Site Manager allows customers to manage up to 300 Unleashed networks from a central location, enabling remote administration of multiple Unleashed deployments using a single admin user name and password.
The Unleashed Multi-Site Manager provides the following critical centralized network management functions:
- Monitoring - provides the ability to get health status of all Unleashed networks, events & alarms, placement of APs on world map, clients info from dashboard itself.
- Reporting - Rich reports are available such as Device Inventory, Client association, PCI, Resource Monitoring, Capacity, etc.

New Access Points: R510 and H510
This release adds Unleashed support for the new Ruckus R510 and H510 802.11ac Wave 2 APs.Gateway Support
This release adds support for configuring the Master AP as a gateway (router), to provide NAT and DHCP functionality and be able to assign private IP addresses to member APs and clients. This feature provides a solution for SMB customers who need to provide private addresses and do not have an existing gateway router, or who connect to their ISP over PPPoE.SpeedFlex Support
This release adds support for the SpeedFlex performance testing tool.Master AP Protection
This release adds a new mechanism to protect the Master AP from overloading its hardware resources by directing client associations to other member APs when handling additional clients could lead to reduced performance. This feature is disabled by default. When enabled, it uses client load balancing to protect the Master by pushing new clients to other member APs when the Master’s resource utilization is high.Upgrade Enhancements
Several enhancements have been made to the firmware upgrade process, including improved filtering for compatible firmware versions, improvements in forward-compatibility for future upgrades, and improved handling of member AP firmware downloads.
Resolved Issues
- Resolved an issue that could lead to IP address conflicts when the Unleashed Master AP was configured with a static IP address and failed to come back online after upgrade/reboot. This could result in multiple member APs being assigned the same conflicting IP address as the statically configured original Master. [ER-4863]
- Max clients for Unleashed R500/R600/T300/R310 APs has been increased from 50 to 100 when the AP is the Master AP. [ER-4774]
- Resolved an issue where Guest Portal redirection would fail to work properly when using a Management Interface. [ER-4733]
Known Issues
- WAN and LAN IP addresses must be in different subnets. If they are in the same subnet, all traffic will be dropped due to route error. [UN-720]
- If the Master AP is in Gateway mode and the WAN port is connected via PPPoE, Mesh can be enabled, but the Master AP cannot be a member of a mesh tree; all of the other connected member APs can be part of a mesh tree. [UN-550]
- Application Visibility data is not properly displayed when clients are associated to the Unleashed Master AP when the Master is in Gateway mode. [UN-755]
- Because the Unleashed R310 only has one Ethernet port, if you configure an R310 as the Unleashed Master in Gateway mode, you will not be able to connect any other APs because the one Ethernet port will be used as the WAN port and there will be no Eth port for LAN connections (also, the R310 does not support Mesh). [UN-782]
- Customized guest WLAN logo files may need to be re-imported after upgrading to 200.3. [UN-781]
- Running a SpeedFlex performance test on Unleashed R310 APs and pushing UDP traffic over a 100Mbps Ethernet link produces inaccurate results. [UN-779]
- The pre-launch browser is not appearing when the Bypass Apple CNA feature is disabled for WISPr and Guest Access authentication. This means that users will have to launch a Safari browser window to be able to complete guest authentication. [UN-444]
- When the Unleashed Master AP is in Gateway mode, the admin should not configure the LAN port network with an IP subnet of 192.168.0.1/24 (because this is the default subnet for the WAN port). If you do configure the LAN port with the same subnet, the AP will delete the LAN port subnet when the WAN port renews its IP address. [UN-842]
200.2 GA
Build 200.2.9.13.186 released
Enhancements
WLAN Prioritization
Allows the admin to set the priority of a WLAN to a lower priority, so that traffic from another WLAN takes priority. For example, if you want to prioritize internal traffic over guest WLAN traffic, you can set the priority in the guest WLAN configuration settings to "Low." By default, all WLANs are set to High priority.Social Media WLANs
Social Media WLANs allow guest users to access the Internet using a social media account instead of using a WPA password or Guest Pass to login. This release adds support for Facebook and Google+ Social Media WLANs.Self-Service Guest Pass
The Self-Service Guest Pass feature allows visitors to an organization to self-activate their devices to access guest WLANs.Guest WLAN Configuration Enhancement
Provides a more intuitive workflow for configuring Guest WLANs. This enhancement removes the need to separately create “guest services” and deploy them to guest WLANs.Management Interface
A Management Interface can be configured to allow an administrator to manage the Unleashed network from a single IP address, regardless of which Unleashed AP is currently the Unleashed Master AP. The Management IP address can be reached from anywhere on the network as long as it is routable via the default Gateway configured in Device IP Settings.Auto Election Enhancement
This enhancement improves the way a member AP can become the Master AP if the original Master goes offline. There is no longer a single “Standby Master,” any (Ethernet-connected) Unleashed member AP can become the Master.Setup Wizard Enhancement
Enhanced usability by allowing setup from either the wired Ethernet interface or wireless, using the “Configure.Me” setup network.Intermediate Signed Image
Improves security of SSL certificates.Upgrade Enhancements

- Chinese (Traditional)
- Czech
- Dutch
- English
- French
- German
- Japanese
- Portuguese (Brazil)
- Spanish
- Swedish
- Turkish
Resolved Issues
- Resolved an issue where Windows 10 clients could be unable to connect to 802.1X WLANs. [ER-4152]
- Removed Smart Redundancy information from Unleashed user interface. The Smart Redundancy feature has been replaced with a new Unleashed Master election process. [ER-3758]
- Resolved an issue where the user would be redirected to the setup wizard on the standby Master when the Unleashed Master AP is disconnected. [ER-3397]
Known Issues
Per AP WLAN service settings may not be properly overridden by global settings after upgrading to 200.2. This is due to the introduction of WLAN service settings in global WLAN settings in 200.2, whereas in 200.1, they were per-AP only. If WLAN service has been configured on an AP before upgrading to 200.2, the new global settings may not be able to override the existing AP settings after upgrading. [UN-350]
Workaround: If you encounter this issue, delete the AP from the Master and let it re-join.
Guest pass validity periods may be incorrect after upgrading to 200.2. [UN-341]
Windows 10 Edge browser produces an error when clicking the Upgrade button. It is safe to ignore this warning and continue the upgrade. [UN-329]
Guest WLAN logo customization settings will be reset upgrading to 200.2 and the logo replaced with the Ruckus logo. If you previously customized the guest access logo before upgrading, you will need to configure it again after upgrading to this release. [UN-322]
The pre-launch browser is not appearing when the Bypass Apple CNA feature is disabled for WISPr and Guest Access authentication. This means that users will have to launch a Safari browser window to be able to complete guest authentication. [UN-444]
Allowing two Unleashed Master APs to exist within the same subnet, with one running 200.1 and another one running 200.2, may have unintended consequences. [UN-319]
Application Recognition data will not sync to member APs if the user reboots the Master AP. [UN-265]
Performing a system restore with APs with static IP addresses could result in IP address conflict. [UN-472]
Performing a local upgrade on R500/R600/R310/T300 models will display “Upgrade Progress” for all APs of those models, even though only one of the models has been selected for upgrade. [UN-302]
Upgrading R710/T710 APs from a 200.2 Beta build prior to build 200.2.9.13.130 to the GA build may cause the APs to be unable to join the latest Unleashed network and fail to automatically upgrade to the GA build. [UN-317]
Workaround: Disconnect AP from the Unleashed network, perform upgrade to the 200.2 GA build, factory reset the AP and then reconnect it to the Unleashed network.

- APs are unable to obtain an IP address from the access VLAN if using a non-default VLAN. [ZF-13341]
- Bonjour service is disabled by default. [ZF-13465]
- The number of clients displayed in the Client Status charts may not accurately reflect the exact number of clients over the time interval, due to the way Unleashed retrieves client statistics from member APs and calculates the client counts for different time periods. [ZF-14378]
- The Verify Certificate confirmation message incorrectly refers to ZoneDirector rather than Unleashed. [ZF-14418]
- Devices running iOS version 9.0.2 may incorrectly identify 802.1x profiles as PSK when enabled with L2-ACL. [ZF-14762]
Smart Mesh
Once enabled, Mesh cannot be disabled without resetting the Unleashed Master and all member APs to factory defaults.
The Unleashed Master and Standby Master APs may not be Mesh APs (or Ethernet-linked Mesh APs).
If a mesh network includes outdoor APs, the use of indoor channels must be enabled on outdoor APs to ensure they will not become isolated.
If the user plugs an Ethernet cable into a working Mesh AP, the mesh link will be automatically disabled to avoid looping. If the user then disconnects the Ethernet cable, there is a chance that the mesh link will not be automatically reestablished until the AP is rebooted. [ER-3691]
Workaround: Reboot the mesh AP without an Ethernet connection to reestablish the mesh link.
Other Limitations
Creating an Unleashed Master AP may take up to 5-6 minutes.
Using an external DHCP server is recommended. If using the internal DHCP server, the Unleashed Master AP must be assigned a static IP address. Additionally, a DNS server must be specified. In either of the following two situations, the Setup Wizard may launch erroneously:
- Accessing the Master AP’s web interface during the Restart, Restore, or Upgrade process.
- Accessing a member AP’s web interface before the member AP has joined the Master.
The Unleashed Master AP uses the IP address 192.168.101.1 internally. Therefore, this address cannot be used as part of the network Unleashed APs are running on. [ER-3299]
When the Master AP is booting up (including the first time an AP reboots to become the master AP), if the user connects to the AP using a browser through either the Configure.Me WLAN or through an Ethernet connection, the Setup Wizard may be displayed in the browser for about two minutes. Any configuration changes made during this time will not take effect, since the AP is in transition to become a Master AP. [ER-3761]
Workaround: Ignore the Wizard page and wait about two minutes. Once the Master AP initialization is complete the Unleashed UI will be displayed

Known Issues
- Bonjour service is disabled by default. [ZF-13465]
- After successful fast roaming, iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ clients repeat the complete authentication process after receiving disassociation packets from the source AP. [ZF-12269]
- Android 5 throws a "Parse error" when installing Zero-IT file. [ZF-13375]
- Single Guest Pass option is displayed when generating multiple Guest Passes. [ZF-12789]
- Guest Access redirection is not working properly for iPhone 5S clients running iOS 7.0.3. [ZF-13226]
- When country code GB is selected, Sony Xperia Z3, Xperia Ultra and Samsung Ultra clients are unable to connect on channel 136 with 80MHz channelization. [ZF-13454]
- When Guest Access with Onboarding Portal is enabled, Apple Mac devices may fail to download the Zero-IT configuration file due to an Apple CNA pre-browser limitation. [ZF-13683]
- Samsung Note-II Android clients may display 802.11r enabled WPA2 profile as unknown security in the scan list. [ZF-11974]
- If the Master AP’s network cable is disconnected while the Standby Master is rebooting during an upgrade, there will be no Master AP in the network. [ZF-13307]
- The Master AP’s IP address may change after rebooting when the Country Code settings are changed to “Optimize for Performance” and then attempting to reconnect via the wired Ethernet interface. [ZF-13643]
- The number of clients displayed in the Client Status charts may not accurately reflect the exact number of clients over the time interval, due to the way Unleashed retrieves client statistics from member APs and calculates the client counts for different time periods. [ZF-14378] The Master AP’s IP address may change after upgrading, resulting in the user being unable to access the web interface. [ZF-13137]
- Zero-IT configuration file fails to install on Android tablets when using the default browser. [ZF-13954]
- New configuration changes may be lost when there are two Master APs in the network after Smart Redundancy failover. [ZF-13971]
- Windows 10 clients are incorrectly displayed as Windows 8 in Clients list. [ZF-14072]
- Traffic graphs may not display correctly at 1024*768 and higher resolutions. [ZF-14140]
- Login page fails to display properly on Android and iOS phones when in vertical orientation. In horizontal orientation, the login fields are visible. [ZF-14386]
- AP traffic graphs and client counts may disappear when the web interface is left idle for over 10 minutes. [ZF-14391]
- The Verify Certificate confirmation message incorrectly refers to ZoneDirector rather than Unleashed. [ZF-14418]
- WLAN names with special characters are not supported. [ZF-14425, ZF-14429]
- Under certain conditions, the Internet component on the Dashboard may incorrectly display “connected” when in fact the connection to the Internet is down. [ZF-14448]
- Restoring the Unleashed Master AP’s SSL certificate to a previous certificate does not properly sync to the Standby Master. [ZF-14371]
Other Limitations
- Creating an Unleashed Master AP may take up to 5-6 minutes.
- Using an external DHCP server is recommended. If using the internal DHCP server, the Unleashed Master AP must be assigned a static IP address. Additionally, a DNS server must be specified.
